TV Mounting in Evansville, IN

Evansville homes put a TV in some interesting places. The finished basement rec room is a local favorite, especially in the ranches and split-levels on the north and east sides, and so is the brick or stone fireplace wall in a 1970s family room or a newer great room in Newburgh. Older homes near downtown add their own challenges, with plaster walls on wood lath, tall ceilings and chimney breasts in the middle of the living room. Wherever it goes, a flat screen needs to be held by the framing, not hung on drywall or crumbling plaster with whatever anchors came in the box. It also needs to sit at the right height for the seating, and the cords shouldn't dangle down the wall for everyone to see.

We start by finding the studs, checking what the wall is made of and confirming the right mount for your screen's size, weight and the viewing angle you want. Then we mount it solidly and level, with fixed, tilting or full-motion arms as needed. We hide cables inside the wall using in-wall rated kits and recessed power and media boxes, or neatly in a paintable raceway when the wall can't be opened, such as brick or a chimney. We can mount soundbars, cable boxes and streaming devices, set up shelves for components, and get everything connected and working before we pack up. You get a clean wall and a TV that won't move until you want it to.

What this covers

  • Fixed, tilting and full-motion wall mounts
  • Stud finding and correct anchoring for each wall type
  • Mounting on brick, stone and over fireplaces
  • Plaster and lath walls in older homes
  • In-wall cable concealment with recessed boxes
  • Paintable cord covers where walls can't be opened
  • Soundbar, shelf and device mounting
  • Basic connection and setup testing
  • Removal of old mounts and wall patching
A note from around here: Basement family rooms in the split-levels and ranches around the north side and the east side, brick fireplace walls in older Newburgh and Lincolnshire homes, and plaster living rooms in Riverside and Bayard Park are where most of our TV mounting calls come from.

How a TV mounting visit usually goes

Plan the Spot

We talk through height, viewing angle, seating and where your devices will live, and confirm the mount fits your TV and wall.

Find the Framing

We locate studs or check the masonry, and plan the anchoring and cable route for that particular wall.

Mount and Level

We install the mount, hang the TV, level it precisely and test the tilt or swing so nothing rubs or binds.

Hide and Tidy

We conceal the cables, mount any soundbar or devices, test everything, and clean up dust and packaging before we go.

Some Evansville walls need a little extra detective work. Many 1950s and 1960s ranches have paneled basement walls over furring strips laid against block, which won't hold a TV by themselves, so we go through to the masonry behind. Older homes near the river may have plaster over brick on exterior walls, and the plaster can be thick and uneven. Newer houses often have studs in the wrong spot for where you want the TV, especially around fireplaces and corners. We find the solid structure first, then choose the mount and anchoring around it, and if we have to add blocking behind the drywall to put the TV exactly where you want it, we'll talk it through with you and patch the wall afterward.

What shapes the price in Evansville

TV mounting cost depends on the wall, the TV and how clean you want the finish. A medium screen on a standard drywall wall with a fixed or tilting mount is the simplest job. Larger and heavier TVs, full-motion arms, mounting on brick, stone or tile, and working over a fireplace all take more time and hardware. Plaster walls require extra care to avoid cracking. Hiding cables inside the wall with a recessed power kit adds labor and parts compared to a surface raceway, and mounting a soundbar, shelves or devices adds to the list. Mounting several TVs in one visit brings the cost per TV down.

Neighbors often ask

Can you mount a TV above my fireplace?

Yes, as long as it's done thoughtfully. We check the mantel depth and the heat rising from the firebox, since some TVs have limits on how much heat they can take, and we look at the viewing height so you're not craning your neck. For brick and stone, we drill into solid masonry with the right anchors, never into crumbling mortar joints. A pull-down mount can bring the screen closer to eye level if the mounting spot ends up high, and we'll suggest it when it makes sense.

Can you hide the wires inside the wall?

Usually, yes. On standard drywall walls, we install a recessed power and media kit that carries a power connection and low-voltage cables up through the wall behind the TV. On brick, stone or exterior walls where running cables inside isn't practical, we use a slim paintable raceway that blends in. We'll show you the options before we start.

Can you mount a TV on my basement's concrete block wall?

Yes. We use masonry anchors rated for the TV's weight, set into solid block rather than hollow cores where we can find them, and keep the mount square to the wall even when the block isn't perfectly flat. If the wall is covered with paneling or drywall on furring strips, we anchor through to the block behind. We'll also check for dampness on the wall first, since some basements around town sweat in the summer.

Do you mount TVs outdoors on a porch or patio?

Yes. Screened porches and covered patios are popular here from spring through fall. We use weather-rated mounts and stainless hardware, keep the screen out of the path of blowing rain where possible, and make sure the power source is a protected outdoor outlet. Our licensed electricians can add an outlet near the TV if there isn't one.
